Director's Profile
Child and Community Relief Uganda (CCORU) was started by Bright Kayaga Christopher, a professional accountant and entertainer (Comedian and Actor) commonly known as Bright Kayaga in 2018. He started by helping children in communities solely as an individual. The great need to help the vulnerable children and need to help develop communities prompted him to register a Non-Governmental and Non-profit Making Organization, CCORU.
Bright Kayaga drove his inspiration from his past experiences as a little boy in the village of Ngangi, Kibaale District in Uganda, Africa, having been through very tough times in his childhood that was characterized by lack of access to medical care, school fees, food, shelter and other basic needs. Despite the hardships he went through in his childhood, he managed to study with the help of well-wishers and his single mum and graduated with a Bachelors Degree of Commerce from Makerere University.
Because there were/ are so many homeless and orphaned children lacking shelter, food, clothing, access to proper medical care, access to clean water, vowed to help children in the community and country within which he lives get proper education, basic needs, medical care, food and a place to call home. He also decided to help empower communities by providing shelter to the homeless, accessibility to clean and safe water, Accessibility to better medical services, Modern agricultural practices among others.
Besides being an actor and comedian, he worked and volunteered with numerous Charity and non-profit-making Organizations before deciding to concentrate on helping his community where he lived as a young man. Some of the Organizations he worked and volunteered for include, Kitara Civil Society Organization Network (KSCON), The Hague Peace Foundation, New hope for children
The source of funding for his charity work has mainly been from well-wishers, donors, grants from other Non-Governmental Organizations, his personal savings and recently formed a Tours and travel (safari) company called Gaplink tours and travel Ltd, that provides tourist services to people who want to visit Uganda and East Africa’s beautiful places, where all the proceedings are put to charity use.
